These are five of my favorite local spaces that are welcoming, open to the public, and dedicated to giving everyone a space to learn, grow, and experiment. While supporting the growing creative economy in Cleveland, OH.

1. Zygote Press

AsiaTown

3907 Perkins Ave. Cleveland, OH 44114

The Focus: Member-Based Printmaking & Accessible Workshops

Website

Zygote Press has long been a foundational pillar of Cleveland’s fine art printmaking scene. Operating as a member-based studio, it provides open access to specialized equipment—from relief presses to lithography setups—that individual artists might not otherwise have at home. Whether you’re an experienced artist looking for dedicated press time or taking an introductory workshop, Zygote ensures printmaking remains democratic, hands-on, and accessible to everyone.

2. Kismet Systems

Cudell

9722 Madison Ave, Cleveland, OH 44102.

The Focus: Artisanal Ceramics & Handcrafted Clay
Website
Instagram

Kismet Systems celebrates the slow, tactile process of turning raw clay into functional home goods and fine art. Kismet represents the heart of Cleveland’s independent studio culture—a welcoming space where local craft meets everyday life, reminding us of the patience, skill, and soul poured into every handcrafted piece.

3. Ingenuity Cleveland

St. Clair Superior

5401 Hamilton Ave, Cleveland, OH 44114

The Focus: Where Art, Technology, & Large-Scale Innovation Collide
Website

Housed inside the massive IngenuityLabs at the Hamilton Artisan Complex, Ingenuity Cleveland serves as an incubator for artists, fabricators, and community builders. It’s where bold ideas take shape—bringing together creative minds to collaborate on large-scale installations, interactive media, and public projects for events like IngenuityFest. Ingenuity proves that when you give Cleveland creatives the space and tools to experiment, incredible things happen.

4. Cleveland Public Library (TechCentral – Main Branch)

Downtown

525 Superior Ave, Cleveland, OH 44114

The Focus: Free Community Maker Spaces & Digital Fabrication
Website

When you think of the library, you think of books—but Cleveland Public Library’s TechCentral lab in the downtown Main Library is quietly fueling the city’s next generation of makers. With free access to 3D printers, laser engravers, vinyl cutters, and embroidery machines, CPL removes financial barriers to creative technology. It’s a space where local entrepreneurs prototype products and residents bring personal art projects to life at zero cost.

5. Case Western Reserve University – Sears think[box
]

University Circle/Little Italy

Campus Location: Richey Mixon Building
