Ohio City
One of Cleveland’s oldest and most active neighborhoods, Ohio City sees constant movement through its tight-knit streets. Known for its walkability – and just a walk over the Cuyahoga River from Downtown – this neighborhood has countless shops that welcome newcomers and old-timers alike.
Energy at Every Hour
Ohio City keeps up with your pace. Mornings start with coffee runs and market stops, afternoons spill into patios and small boutiques, and nights carry on across breweries, restaurants, and corner bars that become fast favorites.
Ohio City feels like a natural extension of Downtown while holding onto its own identity. The Red Line rapid train runs directly into the neighborhood, and multiple bus lines move through W. 25th Street, making it easy to get to and even easier to keep coming back.
Step into the West Side Market and you’re surrounded by past and future. Operating since the 1800s, it remains one of the most iconic public markets in the country, now with fresh renovations.
Find everything from produce and meats to baked goods, prepared foods, and international specialties. It’s a daily gathering place that reflects the diversity, history, and tastes of the region. The experience expands outdoors to Market Square Park, a can’t-miss corner of Cleveland.

Built by Radical Inclusion
Ohio City’s history, since its founding in 1818 as an independent city before being incorporated into Cleveland, still shapes the neighborhood today.
St. John’s Episcopal Church, a documented stop on the Underground Railroad, is celebrated today as Station Hope and reflects a longstanding connection to justice and community leadership.
The neighborhood’s LGBTQ+ history is still evolving. The brick Striebinger Block at West 29th and Detroit has been home to generations of gay businesses, out of which grew Cleveland’s first pride march and the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland.
Always Something Happening Here
Ohio City is a neighborhood that consistently brings people together with events and gatherings.
Each year there are the marquee events like Oktoberfest with local breweries and food vendors, Opening Day for baseball season, and Spring Jam that prepares us for summer. Local businesses also keep Ohio City busy with makers markets, dance parties, and wellness activities.
The Future View of The Riverfront
Along the Cuyahoga River, Irishtown Bend Park will represent one of the most significant waterfront investments in Cleveland. Stabilizing this protective riverbank has created the opportunity for a new, 25-acre green space. The river and skyline views will intermingle with interpretive installations about the site’s history of Irish immigrants.
After completion, this riverfront park will nurture its neighbors, connect to the Towpath Trail, and change the way Cleveland sees itself.
