Our Strong Suggestion: Come Hungry.

Food is a major part of Little Italy’s identity, shaped by generations of family-owned restaurants and bakeries that continue to anchor the neighborhood today.

Start with Mama Santa's

A staple in Little Italy since 1963, Mama Santa’s Restaurant & Pizzeria is known for classic Italian dishes, generous portions, and a warm, unpretentious atmosphere. It is the kind of place where locals celebrate milestones and visitors become regulars after just one meal.

Right in The Middle of it All

Little Italy is located just east of University Circle and sits near Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Clinic, and University Hospitals. Its central location and RTA Red Line station connect it to the whole city while maintaining a relaxed neighborhood feel. The urban fabric makes it easy to walk to campus, commute to work, or explore nearby museums.

Built Over Generations

Little Italy was established in the late 1800s by Italian immigrants who settled near industrial jobs and growing institutions on Cleveland’s east side. Over time, the neighborhood grew into a cultural home base where food, faith, family, and tradition shaped everything. Today, those roots remain visible while new residents and businesses continue to add to the story.

The Iconic Feast That Brings Everyone Together

Each August, the Feast of the Assumption brings thousands of people into Little Italy for several days of celebration. The event features live music, traditional food, religious processions, and community gatherings – all showing off Little Italy’s cultural pride. It remains one of Cleveland’s most anticipated summer traditions.
