Home of Baseball History

League Park is one of the most historic baseball sites in the United States. The Cleveland Buckeyes won a Negro League championship here, and Babe Ruth hit his 500th career home run here. Stop by the Baseball Heritage Museum that preserves and honors baseball’s multicultural history with care and pride. It’s your chance to explore exhibits, walk the field, and connect with Cleveland’s legends.

Hough Knows How to Celebrate

The Hough neighborhood comes together through gatherings that center pride and connection. Juneteenth celebrations at Dunham Tavern Museum bring residents together to honor Black history and freedom. Each August, A New Day in Hough highlights neighborhood unity, culture and progress.

These events reflect the spirit of a community that intentionally celebrates itself and invites more people to experience Hough for the first time.

Creativity Comes to Life in Hough

Cleveland Print Room

Cleveland Print Room brings photography exhibitions, darkroom access, and hands-on workshops to Hough, creating space for visual storytelling and artistic growth.

Rainey Institute

The Rainey Institute connects Cleveland youth to music, dance, and theater through education and performance that nurture creativity and confidence.

Morgan Conservatory

The Morgan Conservatory is a nationally-recognized paper arts center offering exhibitions and workshops that celebrate the craft of hand papermaking and book arts.

A Central Park for Hough

The neighborhood recently celebrated its new, 2.6-acre park, located adjacent to the Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center. Named for the the Supreme Court’s first African-American justice, Thurgood Marshall Green adds 100 new trees, accessible pathways, a community pavilion, and modern playgrounds to Hough. Neighbors came together to design the outdoor space they’d long desired for gathering and relaxing, and the result is a beautiful, green heart and breath of fresh air for the community.

Rooted in Resilience

In 1966, Hough was the center of one of Cleveland’s most pivotal civil rights moments, now known as the Hough Uprising. After enduring decades of inequities and racism in housing, employment, and businesses, the community demanded real change.

The uprising marked a turning point in the city’s history and representation, including the election of Carl Stokes as the first Black mayor of a major U.S. city. Hough’s legacy of organizing, resilience, and advocacy is ongoing.
