Widely recognized as “one of the important Chopin pianists of our time” (Fanfare Magazine) and a top prize winner at both the International Chopin and Tchaikovsky Competitions, world-renowned pianist Kevin Kenner makes a rare appearance in Cleveland who joins a string quintet for a program highlighting Chopin’s concert works for piano and ensemble. The concert marks the regional premiere of Kenner’s own chamber arrangements of Chopin’s Concerto No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 11, Rondo à la Krakowiak, Op. 14, and Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op. 22. These arrangements offer audiences a rare opportunity to experience Chopin’s beloved masterpieces from a fresh perspective, marked by a clarity and balance distinct from the original orchestral versions. The performance showcases both the brilliance of Chopin’s writing and expressive depth of Kenner's artistry which The Washington Post has described as “powerful and eloquent.” This concert is generously supported by the Ohio Arts Council.
