14 wellness spots to try

by Josh Jones Forbes

Cleveland’s neighborhoods have so many spots that help you feel your best. Our team of locals rounded up their top recommendations – fitness classes, health food stores, weightlifting gyms, and even a cycling track!

NuLife Fitness Camp

Take a gym, glam it up, and make everyone feel welcome. Then you’ve got NuLife, where owner Miesha and her trainers celebrate every win. Push yourself with cycling, HIIT, or rowing, and then take your new workout buddies to Juicy Vegan right next door for a smoothie.

Weber’s Health Foods

Weber’s has been a family-run store and destination for decades and decades! People swear by their products: bulk herbs, vitamins, tea, hair care, and more. There are lots of rare and organic specialties, too, so don’t be afraid to ask about something hard to find.

The Schvitz

A 99-year-old secret to rejuvenation is coming into the mainstream. This sauna hosts women-only and co-ed days, so that everyone feels comfortable – comfortably sweaty, that is. If you’re seeking contrast treatment, you can move from a hot bench to the cold plunge pool and back.

Soul Yoga

Ylonda created this inclusive yoga community in a gorgeous, women-owned building. There are classes for slow pace or fast flows, hot yoga or calm poses. If you’re lucky, you’ll come on an open-windows day and enjoy some lake breeze with your mantras.

Cleveland Velodrome

A cycling racetrack in the city! If you’ve ever biked past it and wondered, “what is that…” then it’s definitely time to try. The Velodrome has beginner classes that teach you to ride the banked turns and 166-meter loop like an Olympic athlete.

Be Fitness

Be Fitness is known for options that get you up off the floor: aerial, barre, Pilates, and more. Everyone can learn something new here, and the classes are in high demand, so be sure to register first! After your twirls, we recommend you stroll down Clifton Boulevard to Earth Bistro Café.

Vitiman Kandie

Mary is a local leader in health consciousness and founded Vitiman Kandie to serve the tastiest health foods around. This vegan café and wine bar makes a very welcoming corner of a brand-new building in MidTown, not far from Mary’s previous spot in Glenville.

Cleveland Pickleball Center

This pickleball palace opened in 2025, so there are brand-new courts (indoor and outdoor) waiting for you. Maybe you’re already a part of this national craze, but if it’s your first time, Cleveland Pickleball Center is the perfect place to learn. It’s also got a stocked bar and patio for unwinding after a win.

Climb Cleveland

You’ll gasp when you see the climbing walls embedded inside this historic building. Then you’ll smile, because a great place for first-time climbers and crag fanatics to hang side-by-side. The bouldering spaces are especially intriguing, and there are yoga class offerings, too.

Island Beats

Iris and Zoe have a combined 20 years of experience in leading Zumba workouts. Their tropical rhythms set their classes apart from all others! Discover why exercise should never be a punishment but should always be a party.

Barbell Culture

At this powerlifting gym, the athletes are strong and the community is stronger. They love to cheer each other on at competitions and enjoy their iron paradise. Local weightlifters know that too many of the real heavy gyms are in the far suburbs, so thank goodness for Barbell Culture here in Cleveland proper.

Lucky’s Charms & Supplies

Mr. Lucky is happy to serve anyone searching for good vibes. You don’t need to know what you’re looking for, just discover which candles, oils, stones, and herbs speak to you. Most people have such a great experience that they can’t help but post to social media about their conversations with him!

Tremont Athletic Club

West-side namesake but east-side location! TAC is 10,000 square feet of state-of-the-art equipment for every exercise and every body. Your membership includes free group classes, including Peloton rides. The gym is adjacent to the RTA Red Line as well as all your favorite carbs in Little Italy.

Cultivate Yoga

Cultivate is a not-for-profit with a radical offering: gift-based yoga. You can practice at no cost or whatever cost is right for you. Similarly radical is its home in the Pop Life building, a bold painted landmark of the Waterloo Arts District. Inside are several like-minded businesses, like the vegan café Nourish.
