A Slovenian twist on Mardis Gras

Cleveland Kurentovanje turns the streets of St. Clair Superior into an electric parade led by the fur-clad “Kurenti.” Everyone can enjoy the Slovenian food, polka bands, and family fun, all rooted in St. Clair Superior’s traditions as home for Slovenians. The goal is to “scare winter away” with intoxicating energy, community spirit, and incredible food every February!

Art lives in St. Clair Superior’s DNA. From massive murals by artists like Dayz Whun and Ouizi to the hands-on craft community at Upcycle Parts Shop, this neighborhood proves that expression and color are part of everyday life. Together, they make art a celebration of the community where all are welcome.

Forged by Workers, Artists and Neighbors

The story of St. Clair Superior begins on the factory floors and in family kitchens. Iron workers, immigrants, and small business owners built this neighborhood from the ground up. From Native stewardship to industrial growth and Slovenian festivals to international restaurants, the neighborhood has always been a meeting ground for many cultures.

Their legacy lives on in the neighborhood, with creatives like Ingenuity Cleveland helping to carry that creative energy forward.
