About Cleveland’s neighborhoods

Why do so many people love Cleveland?

Pride Ride in Detroit Shoreway

Cleveland is a lively and affordable city with 29 neighborhoods. Our city is the heart of Northeast Ohio, one of the most populated and historic regions of the country. Each Cleveland neighborhood has its own feel and local pride. So no matter who you are or what you’re into, you’ll find your people here.

Cleveland is every culture. We were the country’s first big city to elect a Black mayor. Our LGBTQ+ community is 50 years strong. And our 40+ nationalities and ethnicities keep growing with newcomers.

Cleveland is a waterfront city. Living on Lake Erie and our Cuyahoga River is living well.

Cleveland is not boring. There are always more events, arts, foods, shops, and sports to enjoy. And you can ride, roll, or stroll to them.

Cleveland is for people who love people. Clevelanders are a team and will do anything to help each other win. We’re a real community where you know your neighbors.

Check our events calendar for events across Cleveland neighborhoods. It shows the latest happenings for visitors, and there’s something for everyone: cultural gatherings, live music, food festivals, arts exhibitions, tours, theater performances, and more.

Unlike other calendars, all our events are actually in Cleveland. You can sort them by neighborhood, so it’s a great way to try a place for the first time or revisit an old favorite.

We believe the best things in CLE are FREE, so don’t be surprised by the number of low-cost events in the city!

What are the best neighborhoods in Cleveland?

The best Cleveland neighborhood to visit is one you haven’t experienced yet. When you get an invitation to a neighborhood, take it!

Most Cleveland guides will point you to Downtown and Ohio City, both of which have architecture and food that you don’t want to miss. Savvy guides will show you University Circle, home to a wealth of musuems, or Tremont, where restaurants overlook the river valley.

But that’s just scratching the surface!

Looking for Lake Erie connections? Visit St. Clair Superior or Edgewater. Searching for local arts districts? Try Collinwood or Detroit Shoreway. Trying to support Black-owned businesses? Check out Mount Pleasant and Glenville. Want a college campus as your backyard? Central. How about a zoo? Brooklyn Centre.

In every neighborhood, you’ll find advocates who proudly tell you why their neighborhood is the best. That’s why we love Clevelanders.

How do I invite my friends and family to visit Cleveland?

If your friends and family are new to Cleveland (or haven’t visited in a long time), send them to ThisIsCleveland.com for an introduction to our world-class experiences (without the world-class ego). The site is a hub of planning tools and places to stay for Cleveland visitors.

But make sure your visitors experience more than one part of Cleveland! Because we have 29 neighborhoods full of stories, they’re really missing out if they only see Downtown and the highways to get there. Give your guests the chance to visit the Rock Hall like a tourist and stroll neat streets like a Clevelander.

You can use our events calendar to find events across Cleveland’s neighborhoods. Then ask yourself: How many lucky loved ones will I invite to join me?
